As with the nook, Samsung eReader users will be able to access the more than one million ebooks, magazines, and newspapers from Barnes & Noble’s online library. Another feature borrowed from the Barnes & Noble’s branded device is the ability for users to “lend” ebooks to other Samsung eReaders for up to two weeks.

“We are partnering with the best in the business to offer access to an extensive array of content, and have developed innovative features and technologies designed to make reading that content as personal and intimate an experience as reading a hard copy book has always been,” said Reid Sullivan, Senior Vice President at Samsung Electronics America.

At CES last January, Samsung displayed two eReaders: the 6-inch E6 announced today and the 10-inch E101. Prices announced at CES were $400 and $700, considerably higher than the $260 Nook or Kindle 2, which do not feature a touch display.

It seems Samsung had second thoughts about this price, as today it announced the eReader E6 is going to sell for $300.

It is expected to be released at some point this spring.

This Samsung eReader model resembles the nook and Amazon Kindle in form, but its bottom will slide out to reveal small control panel featuring navigation buttons and two internal speakers.

Itis going to feature a 6-inch E-ink display with a 600×800 resolution. This will offer 8 shades of greyscale, as electronic ink screens do not yet support color.

It is going to have 2 GB internal memory — which Samsung says is good for 1,500 books — and a microSD memory card slot, giving up to 16 GB of additional storage capacity.

ebooks can be in EPUB, PDF/a, or TXT formats. The E6 will also be able to display images in BMP or JPEG formats.

Despite its focus on ebooks, this device will include an MP3 player, front-facing speakers, a headphone jack, and Bluetooth 2.0 will also be included for using wireless headphones. The latter three will also be used by its text-to-speech technology.

This simple, smart and most enjoyable phone has a big bright 3.2 inch touchscreen that is great for those of you that enjoy playing games, browsing the internet and also viewing multimedia content.
Nokia has big hopes for the X6 – the first in its new X Series line and there’s no question it’s aimed squarely at the same piece of smartphone real estate currently dominated by the iPhone. Its high-end looks, 3.5in capacitive touchscreen display, 32GB of storage and Comes With Music integration make all the right noises, as does a video-capable 5MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash. But only time will tell whether there’s enough bite to go with that bark.

As we reported earlier, the Finnish phone-monger has had to delay its N900 – also due to land tomorrow – by a week because of lack of stock, but it has officially green-lighted the X6 to make its much-anticipated debut.
It’s also a bit of a looker, with a slim, curved-edge profile and a glossy 16:9 touchscreen that dominates the front of the device. The on-board autofocus camera features Carl Zeiss optics and a dual LED flash, and you can record and edit video too.
Nokia claims the battery is good for 35 straight hours of music playback, or eight hours of talktime.

The Skype for Symbian app lets you make free calls to other Skype users anywhere in the world, and super cheap calls to landlines or mobiles, locally and internationally. This all happens over the internet, bypassing the mobile networks entirely. The app is available on Nokia’s Ovi Store now, and will support Symbian smartphones made by Sony Ericsson soon.
It’s also an instant messaging program, so you can share pictures, videos and other files for free. Go over a Wi-Fi connection and you’ll skip any pesky data charges too – particularly useful when roaming.
Now it’s free calls via Skype, first it was free sat-nav. Not content with giving the finger to sat-nav manufacturers, Nokia is aiming an inflammatory digit at mobile operators with the announcement of Skype for its smartphones.

Shaw stressed that Skype on the Nokia N900 was the benchmark example of what Skype can do on mobile, but that his company was “working closely with Nokia to really integrate a Skype experience… There are a few other devices on the joint road map that we’re working on where Skype will be properly integrated.”

Bluetooth specialists Novero has launched ‘TheFirstOne‘ headset, a handsfree kit with more than a touch of elegance. Boxed with a stylish necklace or handy clip for your shirt, the ‘TheFirstOne’ could effectively double up as a pendant or broach while also having the added benefit of being close by for those handsfree calls. Users also have the option of storing it on a desk stand, if you’re not a pendant or broach kind of person.

The phone itself is standard fashion phone issue – i.e., not particularly fashionable, unless you like molded, bumpy white plastic – with a 3.2-megapixel camera (with Beauty Shot mode, naturally, to smooth out those gross zits on your stupid face), 2.8-inch touch-screen and a fancy diamond-shaped D-pad. Spec wise the handset features a 2.2 inch display which supports a resolution of 320×240, it also features a 3.2 megapixel camera, a 3.5mm headset jack and a wide-range of connectivity options.

The Nokia C5 super slim Symbian S60 phone has just been announced by Nokia. Those spyshots we saw last month were bang on cue: it’s a teeny candybar phone with a svelte shell, but much more power than any Series 40 phones from Espoo, and a serious social networking twist.
Although we don’t know about connectivity for the Nokia C5 (It’s still unclear if Wi-Fi is onboard), it will run the new Ovi Maps with free navigation out of the box, so it is has GPS, and on the media front, there’s a microSD slot, 3.5mm audio port for your own headphones and an FM radio.
Nokia is also touting the social networking skills of the Nokia C5, with Facebook statuses of your mates now appearing by their name in the phone book.

That’s a big part of Nokia’s business, though. It is one of the leaders in entry-level handsets across the globe. Regardless, we are sure to see some nice expensive devices as well. Nokia unveiled Symbian 3 at the MWC so we are eagerly awaiting to see some phones that will use that new platform.

Nokia is giving major hints on its official blog that its newest line of mobile phones (the C-Series) will be unveiled at this week’s CeBIT show in Germany.
Nokia has announced the Nokia C series category for new smartphones launching. The first phone in the Cseries category is the Nokia C5 we just reported on.

Each of the series represents a different “type” of phone. The new Nseries will be classed as Nokia’s flagship phones that will contain all the advanced features. Xseries will represent social entertainment. Eseries focusses on productivity and business (similar to blackberry style devices) and the Cseries represents the “core range of products” in Nokia’s words.

LG confirms Windows Phone 7 Coming as Early as Sept.This news has come as a surprise for many people who assumed Microsoft’s announcement that WinPhone7 would be available before the holidays meant sometime in November. The news that LG is aiming for earlier launch means that Microsoft may also release Windows Phone 7 Series sooner than expected.

The September news might also mean good things for Microsoft. The company has already received scorn for announcing an impressive new smartphone operating system after so many manufacturers started making Windows Mobile 6.5 phones. Many consumers might be content to wait until Windows Phone 7 Series comes out instead of buying a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone, so getting the new platform out sooner will help minimize the hit from low Windows Mobile 6.5 sales.
Specifics around the model weren’t revealed, but Show host Josh Topolsky did get some play time and described it as only fractionally thicker than an iPhone 3GS and Nexus One. Video of the handset also confirms a 3.5mm headphone jack (remember when companies were too stupid to offer this? Seems like a lifetime ago), 5MP camera with flash the front ‘Back’, ‘Home’ and ‘Search’ hardware buttons Microsoft insists will have to feature on every 7 Series smartphone.

Aaron Woodman, the director of consumer experiences for Microsoft’s mobile division, showed off a prototype of LG’s Windows Phone 7 Series phone over at Engadget. We don’t have many details, but we do know that it’s a QWERTY slider that’s just a tad thicker than the iPhone, with a 5MP camera, and six hardware buttons.
With Windows Phone 7 Series, Microsoft takes a fundamentally different approach to phone software. Smart design begins with a new, holistic design system that informs every aspect of the phone, from its visually appealing layout and motion to its function and hardware integration. On the Start screen, dynamically updated “live tiles” show users real-time content directly, breaking the mold of static icons that serve as an intermediate step on the way to an application. Create a tile of a friend, and the user gains a readable, up-to-date view of a friend’s latest pictures and posts, just by glancing at Start.
Every Windows Phone 7 Series phone will come with a dedicated hardware button for Bing, providing one-click access to search from anywhere on the phone, while a special implementation of Bing search provides intent-specific results, delivering the most relevant Web or local results, depending on the type of query.
